Blog identity

I struggle to post...

Not struggle, so much, as just wonder what to write about. Sure, I post about trips, or funny stuff, or projects. But nothing on a regular basis...

There are blogs that I read that have something posted everyday. And it's all interesting.

There are blogs that I read that are very insightful.

Some are full of pictures.

Some are inspiring in the crafts that they do....

But, me? Well, I have so many interests, but nothing in particular. Not a "niche" per se.

Although I love quilting, and love posting about what I'm doing, that's not the whole premise of my blog.

I love kayaking and the outdoors, but there's more to it than that.

I love traveling, and posting about trips, but again, not all that I am or do...

So, what's my blog identity, and what keeps people coming back? Friends stop in so they can see what's new with me personally. But what about the rest of the blogosphere? Why do they come and what are they looking for?

Some days, I wake up and say I wanna do a post today. But about what? And then I'm at a loss... I didn't quilt over the weekend. I didn't do anything outdoorsy. I didn't travel. Nothing is new or exciting... So now what?

I'm certainly not a political person, and don't want this blog to be a political blog.

I guess, for now, it remain completely random as the name implies. No idea what will be here, but I'm gonna strive to post at least twice a week for now!

Stay tuned...

I like random. That's what makes it interesting. But I do look forward to seeing more posts. :)

AMW,

Random is good, because you appeal to a wider audience.

Your blog should be a reflection of you. Your blog should be written for you as a way of looking back. Write what interests you.

I just write mostly random crud. It seems to work for me.

I'm looking forward to seeing more regular posts from you, about random!

It's funny that you posted this because I myself had the same question last night. My blog is mostly about me ranting on books or movies that I didn't like but it all just didn't seem to have that WOW factor in it.

My karate instructor is very good when it comes to delivering advise based on persona's. You just need to ask yourself who you want to portray yourself as. For example, I'm not just James... I am James the black belt.

I've actually thought of a new persona and that's James the make it different guy. Finding new meals to cook and new things to do in the community. I should at least be able to post one new thing everyday because I eat everyday right?

So what I am trying to say is, figure out what it is you have a passion for and create a persona based on that and find new things to blog about. If it's quilting, what new patterns can you do? What new stitches have you found out? What cool quilts can you find on the internet? That sort of stuff... I hope it helps :)
